Lena
The night of the 29th of May 2010 made Lena an international star. As the runner up she won the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
The young girl from Hannover made it into the international charts not only with her ESC winning song ”Satellite“ but also with her debut album “my cassette player”
In Germany the number one song and number one album gained double platinum status.
Her albums “My Cassette Player” and “Good News” spent more than 60 weeks on the number one spot in the German album charts. Among numerous gold and platinum awards for her albums and singles she won multiple awards such as a Goldene Henne, the 1Live Krone, The German Television Award, a Comet, 2 ECHOS in the categories “Most successful Newcomer” and “Most successful artist national”, a MTV Europe Music Award for “Best German Act.” In 2011 she even won the MTV Europe Music Award for “Best European Act”.
In April 2011 Lena went on a 9 city tour through Germany. More than 70.000 fans went to her concerts and were able to enjoy a spectacular lightshow, hits from both of her albums, her new brand song “Who’d Want To Find Love” and of course her mega hit “Satellite”.
In 2011 she came back to the Eurovision Song Contest to represent Germany one more time with her song “Taken By A Stranger”. With an impressive performance defending champion Lena landed a successful 10th place.
In August 2011 Lena surprised her fans with the cover of “What A Man” (originally sung by Linda Lyndell in 1968). The song is the title song to the movie “What a Man” with and written by Matthias Schweighöfer. The two met when they worked on the synchronization of the movie “Sammys Abenteuer”. He didn’t have to ask Lena twice to sing the cover song for the movie and in return he played a part in Lena’s music video.
