The German tennis fans awaited eagerly a home match of the German Fed Cup team. After two years of their last appearance, tennis enthusiasts were looking forward to seeing the best German tennis ladies play in the unique atmosphere of the Fed Cup. The tie was staged at the Frankfurter Tennis Club 1914 Palmengarten e.V. on 25th – 26th April of 2009 of the clay court with a capacity of 1530.
 
The team at the head of coach Barbara Rittner played against China. Four Singles and one Double decided if the German team accomplish the promotion into the world group.  “I have a lot of positive memories of Frankfurt; lastly it was in Frankfurt where we did win against the favored team of China last year and therefore did recapture a place in the world group.”, said Rittner.
