2009 has been a very good year for Udo Jürgens, as he did finish that year with an extremely successful birthday-tour and platinum and gold honours for his „Best Of“album. Every other artist would probably have withdrawn from touring in order to recover after 63 primarily sold out concerts. But not Udo Jürgens who did return after his 75th birthday and his most likely most successful tour of his career while being relaxed and full thirst of action.  Just as promising did the still fresh year of 2010 begin: at the world economic summit WEF in Davos, the entertainer next to the classical star pianist Lang Lang received the prestigious Crystal Award as recognition for his commitment for a better world.

It is therefore not surprising that the thoroughbred musician has prescribed himself a suitable wellness-program for the upcoming summer: the solo-concerts 2010. As a way of vacation with music did Udo Jürgens playfully described his open-air solo-concerts with a view to his “normal” tours. With that said he does not speak about his performance on stage, but his generously measured tour plan that gives him a lot of spare time to relax.

UdoBild2Within the framework of the open-air solo-concerts Udo Jürgens will be performing only once in Northern Germany. He has a special affiliation with Schleswig Holstein, since his mother descends from the most northern federal state. He will therefore present his biggest and some new songs on the open-air stage on August 22nd, 2010 at the park in Grömitz. The concert will start at 20:00 p.m. and the doors open at 18:30 p.m.

His pleasant anticipation is probably resulting from the very fast sold out solo concerts that became a favoured tradition for the fans.  Even the artist was sceptical about the success of these concerts at the beginning.  Udo Jürgens will again be accompanied by the guitarist Francis Coletta, who already gave atmospheric main points at his earlier solo-concerts.

Who already got the chance to witness Udo Jürgens with his orchestra in one of the big concert halls will experience entirely new impressions concerning the repertoire and the effect of the songs during the solo concerts.

The open-air solo-concert has a very special meaning to the artist:
“The solo-concert is very controversial to a concert with a big orchestra – a whole different project that is not comparable with a normal tour.  It is a high performance of concentration and preparation to creat such a programme that is just performed on the piano and still appeals. It is all on me.

Otherwise I have my liberties. I can spontaneously change the programme, the introduction or a solo whenever I feel like it. Those changes would not be able with an orchestra because they have to stick to their notes. This deep and warm feeling to intensively experience my music together with people results from this liberty and deeper meaning of the lyrics.

It will be a mix of both: old and new songs. For a solo-concert I chose of course poetic songs which might be new to the audience. These open-air concerts are always having a different sound and another soul than orchestral concerts. They are more quiet and more intimate. They show my songs in their original form.

The previous success of the open-air solo concerts has shown me that I am on track. I am very looking forward to this tour and I think that I will surprise the fans with a very attractive programme.”

The Welldone Agency is very glad to organize the only concert of Udo Jürgens in Northern Germany and to create an unforgettable evening for all the guests at the park in Grömitz.
