Peter Maffay wins this year's Radio Regenbogen Award in the category "Charity & Lifetime".

Since being a rockstar is not enough Peter Maffay and some of his friends started a charitable foundation "Horizon e.V" in the 1990's to prevent the increasing hostility towards foreigners. The basic idea was to use his popularity to support other charitable projects. In 2000, he started the Peter Maffay foundation. The foundation offers vacation homes for sexually abused or traumatized children on the island of Mallorca or in Rumania where the children are supervised by therapists.

The award ceremony will take place on March 30th 2012 in Karlsruhe.
