Essen 2005

pastessenct05In October 2005 the “Deichmann Champions Trophy” has been held at the Grugahalle in Essen and combined some of the biggest names and personalities in tennis with a crowd creating an electric atmosphere.

Legendary players such as Wimbledon Champion John McEnroe, Davis Cup Legend Jim Courier, “King of Clay” Thomas Muster and Wimbledon Champion Pat Cash enthused their fans with splendid and thrilling matches. The high class competitive singles tournament was interspersed with entertaining doubles featuring Mansour Bahrami, the “Clown Prince of Tennis” and the Australian double legend Peter McNamara.

For four days the sponsors and their guests had the chance to enjoy the continuing athletic brilliance and unique personalities of the greatest legends of tennis. Whether they met them at an autograph session, at the daily Kids Camp or at the Pro-Ams – it was an experience “money can’t buy”.

Part of the tournament has always been the support of charity organizations. In 2005 the DEICHMANN Foundation "Wort und Tat", which cares about children around the globe, was the official charity of the tournament.

The team of the Welldone Agency organized the entire tournament, created individual sponsoring concepts for the “Deichmann Champions Trophy” and successfully connected the best of tennis with international corporations.
